Chisinau municipal councilors vote for renewal of capital's public transport park

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) today voted a draft decision, under which the city hall is empowered to purchase 100 buses and 18 trolley buses till 31 December 2020, as well as to ensure the assembling of 30 trolley buses.

Under the decision, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, is empowered to hold negotiations with Moldovan commercial banks for getting a loan worth 400 million lei for making these procurements.

During the subsequent elaboration of the task book on the procurement of vehicles, the municipal councilors will establish what kind of fuel those 100 buses, due to be bought, will use.

At the same time, more municipal councilors said that the price of a ticket in the municipal public transport would increase. Estimations by CMC’s working group showed that the price of a ticket in the municipal public transport should be at least 6.4 lei.

Statistics data shows that the daily flow of passengers is of 671,000 passengers per day, of whom about 597,000 in the administrative area of Chisinau, while the other start of end in one of the settlements from the suburbs.
