Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - The first diagnosis laboratory set and consumables worth 12,000 euros today was delivered to the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) on behalf of the European Union.

” Moldova, in cooperation with the European Union, undertakes concrete and quick steps towards getting the right to export animal origin production to EU,’’ the ANSA director general, Veaceslav Cotici, said at the event on the consignment’s delivery.

According to Cotici, the institution he leads is now better prepared for exporting animal products to the European market and the Agency’s laboratory is already accredited according to the EU’s requirements.  ‘’The sets of diagnosing provided today will contribute to the development of the capacities of the Laboratories of the Republican Centre for Veterinary Diagnosing (CRDV), in order to monitor and supervise animals’ diseases, such as the bird flu, Newcastle disease, salmonella and the African swine fever,’’ the ANSA head noted.

”The European Union is a strategic partner of Moldova and we think that we will be able to export a wide range of products, taking into account that we presently already export honey, caviar, as well as non-food products and brute animal leather,’’ Vladislav Cotici said.

Attending the event, a representative of the European Union Delegation in Moldova, Gintautas Baranauskas, said that EU was set to help Moldova in implementing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. ‘’We hope that we will continue our cooperation, in order to implement the projects underway and the ones due to be launched,’’ Gintautas Baranauskas added.

The diagnosing set is part of the European Union’s assistance provided within an agreement on cooperation, in order to modernize the CRDV laboratories of the National Food Safety Agency. The overall budget of the project is of one million euros and will be carried out during three years till 2022.
