Draft on allowance provided to descendants of medical employees dead in fight with COVID-19 to be published in Moldova's Official Journal

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Official Journal issue from  26 June will publish the government decision on the approval of the draft law on the providing of allowance to descendants of the medical employees dead while fulfilling their duties in fighting COVID-19.   

Under the draft, the following persons will be able to benefit from allowance: husband survivor for a period of five years after the date of death of the maintaining person; children with the age of up to 18 years or if their continue education at day education institutions (secondary, vocational higher), till finishing these studies, without exceeding the age of 23 years; to one of the parents, if no descendants are specified.  

The calculation basis represents the monthly average income from the last 12 months till the death month.  The months when the person was on leave are replaced by the same number of calendar months just before the period included in calculation. Also, the quantum of the allowance for the husband survivor is calculated at the level of 50 per cent of the calculation basis and the quantum of the allowance in the case of children is calculated at the level of 75 per cent for each descendant.    

„The quantum of allowance in the case of parents is calculated at the level of 50 per cent of the calculation basis. The quantum of the allowance calculated cannot be lower than 50 per cent of the size of the monthly average salary on the economy on the date of the allowance’s calculation,’’ reads the draft approved by the government and which is to be submitted to parliament for adoption.
