Moldova-Japan business forum starts in Chisinau

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - About 60 companies and national business support institutions from Moldova and Japan today brought together online at the second issue of the Business Bridges Japan-Moldova Business Forum, initiated by the Organization for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM) and the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) on 25-27 November. 

In the opening of the event, Prime Minister Ion Chicu presented to Japanese investors the advantages of developing the IT business in Moldova and invited companies from Japan to explore these opportunities.  

„Connected to the digital markets of the states from the West and East, with a modern Information and Technologies and Communication (TIC) infrastructure, with qualified and multilingual labour force, low business costs, IT park and IT visa legislation, Moldova, which is a small, but digitally alphabetized country, is an ideal place for the development and piloting of new IT services and products,’’ Ion Chicu said.   

For his part, Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama appreciated the importance of the discussions between entrepreneurs from both countries, which can boost the share of bilateral trade exchanges.

The virtual business forum is at its second issue and is held, in order to inform the business community from Japan about the investment and cooperation opportunities with Moldova in the IT & BPO sectors.  

During three days, over 30 bilateral meetings between companies from Moldova and representatives of Japanese firms in the world will be organized within the event.

The forum is organized by ODIMM and JETRO, with the support of the Project, Counseling Moldova’s Government in Economic Policies, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ Moldova), with the financial support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development from Germany and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
