Well-known Moldovan journalist, diplomat passes away

Chisinau 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - Journalist and diplomat, director general of the Diaspora Relations Bureau Valeriu Turea died at the age of 69 today morning at 5:40.    

The sorrow news was confirmed by his wife, art critic Larisa Turea. In the last time, the former ambassador was put in the Chisinau-based Emergency Hospital.  

„This is a great loss and huge grief for us, especially for the family which was by his side all the life. On these moments of deep sorrow, our thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends of the departed Valeriu Turea, those who will bear his name from now on and will light his memory,’’ the diplomat’s colleagues note on the government’s webpage.

Valeriu Turea was born in the Rososeni village, Chernivtsi region, Ukraine, on 6 October 1951. He graduated from the Chisinau-based State University, Philology Faculty, journalism specialty, in 1974. Turea worked as journalists at more periodical publications. Since 1991, he has been employed at the Foreign Affairs Ministry. During 2010-2015, he acted as Moldova’s ambassador to Portugal and in 2015-2016 – director general of the Diaspora Relations Bureau. On the period 2016-2019, he was minister adviser of Moldova’s Embassy in Bucharest. Starting from October 2019, Valeriu Turea returned to the office of director general of the Diaspora Relations Bureau.
