Education, professional training institutions of Moldova receive assistance to combat COVID-19

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - Twelve education and professional training institutions of Moldova have received protective equipment and disinfectants, within the joint partnership of the United Nations Population Fund Moldova (UNFPA Moldova) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).   

As many as 15,000 masks and 1,140 litres of disinfectants have been donated in all. The centres of excellence in the light industry from Chisinau, in informatics and information technology from Chisinau, in services and food processing from Balti, Alexei Mateevici pedagogical college from Chisinau, poly-technical college from Balti, agro-industrial college from Rascani, Iulia Hasdeu college from Cahul, Vasile Lupu college from Orhei, vocational school from Nisporeni, vocational school from Rezina, vocational school from Cupcini, Edinet, benefited from assistance.  

The donation, delivered in the context of preventing and combating the COVID-19 pandemic, completes the UNFPA’s efforts to provide and ensure safe rooms and access to education for developing the life abilities for more than 6,000 pupils of 12 institutions from Moldova, as part of a three-year comprehensive project co-financed by the Austrian Development Agency from funds of the Austrian Development Cooperation, in partnership with the Education, Culture and Research Ministry.   

UNFPA, as part of the UN Moldova team, along with development partners, backs the national response to the pandemic, through activities which regard people’s protection, enhancing the capacity of the health system and reducing the economic and social disturbances.
