Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/- Acting President Igor Dodon came today with an appeal to citizens in which he reviewed the activities of the terms of office and said that tomorrow the responsibility for the country and appointment of a new government is for President-elect Maia Sandu. He thanked citizens for voting for him and announced his intention to return to the helm of PSRM.

Dodon said he was sending a credible and strong presidential institution to the next head of state. "Starting tomorrow, the president-elect must take full responsibility for what is happening in the country, or start talks with parliamentary factions to appoint a new government or discuss a roadmap for dissolving parliament and snap polls," Dodon said.

He noted that his term was determined by several stages and he said he did not regret any decision taken, as all were assumed and legal. "Dear political opponents, everything is just beginning. On 30 December the party's congress will take place, where I was nominated for the head position. We are available to talk to all parties and we will focus on a transitional government or holding of early elections. The next period will be a very interesting one ", he said.

Dodon thanked the government team and Prime Minister Ion Chicu for their support and "professionalism they showed in challenges of the year: COVID-19, drought, economic crisis".
