Perspective of Moldova's relationship with EU on various areas of cooperation discussed in Brussels

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/- The perspective of the relationship with the European Union on various areas of cooperation was discussed on Monday by President Maia Sandu during meetings with Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice and Valdis Dombrovskis, Executuve Vice President of the European Commission for an economy that works for people.

According to the presidential press service, Maia Sandu thanked European officials for their support of our country over time and for promoting the interests of citizens, even in times when European values and principles were violated.

"Moldova is stepping into a new stage of cooperation with partner countries - a relationship based on transparency and mutual trust. I strongly believe that the renewal of the political dialogue and thawing relations with European partners will help build the rule of law, strengthening a true democracy and a functioning economy, "the head of state said.

Discussion with Johannes Hahn focused on enhancing economic cooperation, the importance of EU assistance to Moldova and our desire to further liberalize services and integrate the Republic of Moldova into the European economy.

Regarding the meeting with Didier Reynders, Maia Sandu stressed the need to implement a real justice reform, which would allow the development of the Republic of Moldova in other areas as well. "The fight against corruption and the creation of strong and independent institutions is the basic premise of improving the lives of our citizens. He assured me that the European Union will continue to support our European path by supporting our reforms and efforts to build a modern, European and prosperous state," she said.
