Deputy Prime Minister meets Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari had a meeting with Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

The two officials exchanged views on current priorities in the negotiation for the Transnistrian settlement and in the effective implementation of the country's reintegration policies.

One of the key topics of the discussion was the working visit to Moldova on 26-28 January by Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Transnistrian settlement Thomas Mayr Harting.

Cebotari assured she will further boost the activity of the sectoral working groups with the participation of experts from the two banks of the Dniester, noting that on Thursday the meeting of the working groups for the development of road transport and road infrastructure took place, and on 22 January there will be two more meetings of experts on customs and health care.

At the same time, to identify viable solutions to the most current problems faced by residents on both banks of the Dniester, the intention and need to boost the interaction between experts from Chisinau and Tiraspol in other areas of responsibility.

Also, the two officials exchanged views on the working meeting of political representatives in the negotiation process for the Transnistrian settlement of Chisinau and Tiraspol on 20 January and its impact in boosting the fulfillment of the commitments agreed in the so-called Berlin + package.

The deputy premier thanked the head of the OSCE Mission for openness and support in ensuring the continuity of the mechanism for compensating for accommodation expenses close to the workplace of medical staff reiding in Transnistria and informed about the start in the near future of a campaign on the rules needed to be observed in order to participate in the international road traffic of motor vehicles from the eastern districts of the country.

They also approached other topical issues in the agenda and solutions that can be identified for bringing the two banks of the Dniester closer together.

They agreed to ensure an ongoing dialogue with all partners of the 5 + 2 format.
