Hydrologists issued thin ice warning

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/- The Hydrological Center of the State Hydrometeorological Service issued a warning today, valid until 22 February on danger posed by the ice formations created in the water basins, upon cooling time.

According to hydrologists, “following cooling time, on 12-22 February the ice formation will be resumed in the rivers and water basins of the country. The ice bridge will be installed on the Dniester and Prut rivers and everywhere on small rivers and water basins”.

The ice will be thin, the exit on it will be dangerous, thus rescuers warn people, especially amateur fishermen. Also, be careful parents and prohibit minors from playing near water sources.

The Yellow Code of sudden change of weather remains in force throughout the country until February 17. During the period, the air temperature will gradually drop to -22 degrees.
