Press commentary by Moldova's Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - In the context of requests to comment on the participation of Ambassador of Russia Oleg Vasnetsov in an event in the videoconference format, organized by the Tiraspol structures, we respectfully remind to the public opinion the position of principle of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE).     

We reiterate the Moldovan authorities’ request for the diplomats accredited in Moldova to abstain from activities organized by the Tiraspol structures, which are used on purposes of propaganda and political speculations of this region of Moldova.  

The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry asks the diplomatic missions to be informed in due time concomitantly with the Reintegration Policies Bureau about the contacts had and the content of the discussions held, as well as to publicly deny erroneous and tendentious information, which might contain the press declarations and releases issued by the Tiraspol unconstitutional structures.    

Moldova’s government further speak out for the consolidated powers, in order to achieve a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the Transnistrian problem, based on the observance of the sovereignty, territorial integrity within the limit of the internationally recognized borders of Moldova, by giving a special status to the Transnistrian region.
