Chisinau city hall asks parliament's opinion on bus procurement procedure

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban requested the opinion of the Economy, Budget and Finance Committee on application of direct negotiations with bus companies.

Today, he was present at the commission meeting and explained that although last year a public tender was organized for the purchase of 100 buses, it failed due to complaints.

Ion Ceban said that the urban transport situation in Chisinau is critical, aggravated by restrictions in public health. To cope with this, several public transport units were additionally mobilized, 30% of which are in poor condition. The number of maxi-taxis has been reduced from 700 to about 300 transport units, and yesterday protest caused a collapse for passengers.
