Moldovan parliament amends law on domestic trade

Chisinau, 22 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today approved, in the second reading, a draft on the amendment of the law on the domestic trade and the Contravention Code of Moldova, worked out to support the native agro-food producers.       

The normative act sees the capping up to 10 per cent from the provider’s selling price of the size of the commercial cuts offered by the provider to trader for the sale of food products. Exception is to represent the period of the actions of marketing and advertising. Concomitantly, a deadline of 60 days per products, meant for carrying out marketing and advertising actions, in one year, is proposed to be established.      

Also, the draft sees the sanctioning of the deeds of infringement by the trader and provider of the norms as to the capping of the commercial cats. The fine is to be from 50 (2,500 lei) to 100 conventional units (5,000 lei) in case of a private person and from 200 (10,000 lei) up to 400 conventional units (20,000 lei), in case of legal entity.    

At the same time, the draft proposes completion of the law on the domestic trade with such notions as ‘’production process’’, ‘’regulations in the food sector,’’ ‘’food safety’’. The defining of the concerned notions will allow avoiding situations of confusions or multiple interpretation at the enforcement of the legislation, according to the author of the legislative initiative, Deputy Parliament Speaker Alexandru Slusari (ACUM faction, Dignity and Truth Platform)   

Slusari said that the draft’s approval would facilitate the access of local producers, especially small ones, to the network of shops from Moldova, would increase the consumption of native food products and would enhance the profitableness of the native producers’ businesses, would create new financial opportunities for the modernization of the technologies of the local producers or processors.
