Joint Control Commission members hold meeting in Bender

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - An incident with tragic consequences which occurred in the perimeter of the Security Zone (Rascaieti village) on 11 May 2021 was brought to the focus of the members of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) at a weekly meeting held today, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.    

The participants in the meeting highlighted that the circumstances of the case were investigated by criminal prosecution bodies in accordance with the legal instructions.  

Moldova’s delegation tackled the issue through the light of the basic acts of the peacekeeping operation at the Dniester and condemned the presence in the Security Zone of the paramilitary structures non-included in the contingent of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, as well as their abusive actions which triggered the death of a man.  

Tiraspol’s representatives in JCC opposed the discussions and the taking of an objective attitude on this subject. At the same time, Chisinau’s delegation called on the Russian delegation, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE in the Joint Control Commission to contribute to the process of withdrawal of the ‘’border guards’’ forces illegally introduced in the Security Zone and of ensuring the observance of the provisions of the Agreements from 1992 and 1998.  

During the consideration of other aspects on the agenda, the OSCE Mission’s team in Moldova was supplied by another representative empowered to participate in the works of the Joint Control Commission and Russia’s delegation asked to replace a military observer.   

The participants in the meeting approved no report presented by the Joint Military Command. The reason for this was the failure to truthfully cover the situation emerged in the Security Zone, especially the lack of information on the illegally set posts on the period of the Covid-19 pandemic.
