Exhibition of manuscripts, documents from monastery of Moldova inaugurated at Chisinau-based museum

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - The National Ethnography and Natural History Museum (MNEIN) today inaugurated an exhibition titled, Historical and cultural tradition and memory safeguarded in manuscripts of Noul Neamt Monastery. The event is organized in the context of the forthcoming International Museum Day (18 May) and European Night of Museums.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the MNEIN director, Petru Vicol, said that the exhibition brought to the public’s focus a small part of the rich library of the Noul Neamt Monastery, which preserves an inestimable treasure of manuscripts and documents covering important pages from the history and culture of the Country of Moldova. ‘’Visitors will have a rare occasion to see the originals of documents on the foundation and first years of activity of the Noul Neamt Monastery – the biggest monastic unit of Moldova,’’ Vicol noted.
The pieces of the exhibition come from collections of the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum and the National Archive General Department of the National Agency of Archives from Moldova. The exhibition is meant to get people closer to the Christian-Orthodox spirituality and the scholars’ traditions from the historical Moldova.
The exhibition will be open till 30 May.
