Moldovan cabinet extends START programme for young people by one year

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today voted a draft decision, which sees the extension by one year of the term of implementation of the programme, START for young people: a sustainable business at home, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The amendments also provide for the extension of the eligibility term for applying to the programme till 2 years after the enterprise’s registration or foundation, which will give possibility to a larger number of young people to benefit from financial support in the phase of the business’ launch and development. So far, decision-makers have found out that many companies set up by young people were not able to benefit from the Programme’s opportunities, for reasons of non-fitting of the company’s age. Respectively, the term of one year for enterprises was limiting the participation of young people who started a business and are at the incipient stage of its development.       

The programme’s goal is to enhance the social and economic impact by stimulating the taking over and the enforcement of good practices in the economy, creation of jobs, increase the volume of investments in the economy, etc. It is worth mentioning that the public nourishment sector was considerably hit by the COVID-19 crisis; thus, the Start for Young People programme will represent an additional support for young people who started businesses in this field.   

„It is about a programme for the young generation from Moldova, through which we hope much that the exodus abroad will be diminished and this will allow young people to edify their foundation here, at home,’’ acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said.

As much as 20,000 thousand lei will be earmarked from the state budget for the Programme’s implementation for 2021.  

The participants in the cabinet meeting approved also the Programme of activities of the country’s reintegration for 2021. The programme’s goal is to finance projects of community interest in settlements from the Security Zone, meant to contribute to the promotion of confidence building measures between the residents from the two banks of Dniester and for the achievement of the governmental objective of Moldova’s reintegration.
