About 50,000 Moldovan citizens vaccinated against COVID-19 abroad

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - About 50,000 Moldova’s citizens have been vaccinated against COVID-19 abroad. The leadership of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) unveiled data to this effect at a news conference today.    

According to the quoted source, the figures come from the Border Police. In the last seven days, 100,000 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered in Moldova. Thus, the vaccination rate among the general population reached almost 10 per cent. More exactly, 416,814 people have been immunized against the virus so far.  

At the same time, 80 per cent of the medical employees were immunized against COVID-19, which helped reduce the morbidity by 90 per cent since the beginning of the vaccination campaign. As many as 1,378 adverse reactions were reported in Moldova, of which 94.4 per cent - with light forms and 5.6 per cent with moderate ones.     

The authorities said that, during this week, a consignment of AstraZeneca vaccines, delivered through the COVAX platform, was to reach Chisinau. So far, Moldova has received 886,390 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine.
