Moldovan president meets citizens of Moldova in Milan

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu ended her visit to Italy with a discussions with Moldovan citizens in Milan on 20 June evening, the presidential press service has reported.   

„Nice people who, no matter how deep are the roots left here, their thoughts are also at home. They spoke me about their problems, as well as the expectations they have from us, the ones who committed to make proper order in Moldova. They asked me how they can help us for the change to be made,’’ Maia Sandu said.  

The head of state thanked the Moldovan citizens for involvement, noting that their merit was already great, as they had for years helping hundreds of thousands of families through the money sent home. ‘’Now, no matter where we are, it is important for us to go to vote. We can get the chance to modernize the country only through voting and only together – from health and education up to the justice reform and fighting corruption; from backing small businesses up to big projects on regional development and infrastructure,’’ the Moldovan president stressed.  

During the discussion, Maia Sandu said that she would continue working to contribute to the settlement of the problems faced by the Diaspora, through diverse inter-governmental agreements, but especially in order to edify a society where they really feel at home when they return.

The president of Moldova paid an official visit to Italy on 18-20 June, where she had meetings with the Italian president and other officials.
