Moldovan poetess marks birthday anniversary

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - Poetess, publicist, essayist, translator, journalist, author of lyrics for songs, Master in Art Galina Furdui marks her 75th birthday anniversary today.     

Galina Furdui was born in the Varancau village, northern Soroca district, on 21 June 1946. She graduated from the Philology Faculty of the Moldovan State University (USM), specialty of Romanian language and literature (1969). Furdui started her work as literary editor at the Teleradio Moldova State Company in 1968. She was teacher of Romanian literature at the Chisinau-based Music, Theatre and Fine Arts Academy (1997). Furdui guided the activity of two literary clubs: Ars poetica at the Nicolae Iorga theoretical lyceum and Temptation of Word from the School No 57 from Chisinau. She was editor-in-chief of the Univers-Om (Universe-Man) magazine and the producer of the musical and literary programme, Ars Longa, at Radio Moldova.     

Galina Furdui made her debut in writing in 1963, in the weekly Cultura Moldovei and continued to publish in the magazine Cultura, Nistru and Femeia Moldovei (Moldova’s Woman).

The poetess’ poems are translated outside Moldova. She is member of the Moldovan Writers’ Union, Writers Union of Romania, Moldovan Journalist’ Union, Union of Theatre People from Moldova.

Galina Furdui was awarded the Civic Merit medal (2008) and the Master in Art honorific title (2015). She is holder of more national and international prizes, at diverse contests of poetry, international festivals. Furdui received also the Opera Omnia prize (International Union of Creative People) for all works in the literary and musical sectors (2018).
