Moldovan acting PM participates in meeting of foreign affairs ministers of Central European Initiative member states

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today participated in a meeting of the foreign affairs ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) member states, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The event titled, Outlining of Europe’s future, development of prosperous region – extension, aligning, recovery, is organized by Montenegro as the organization’s chairperson-on-office.
At the meeting, the officials reviewed the principal political developments in the region and discussed ways of strengthening the European integration of the states from the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership, as well as ways of economic recovery in the post-COVID period.
In his speech, Minister Aureliu Ciocoi welcomed the initiatives launched within CEI, which regard the post-COVID recovery in the health and economy sectors. At the same time, Ciocoi appreciated the organization’s intentions to consolidate the cross-border interaction in fields concerning the environment, science and connectivity, paying also special attention to young people.
As for the European integration process, Aureliu Ciocoi stressed Moldova’s interest in continuing the reforms’ agenda and modernizing the state, stressing including the value added of the CEI projects in this respect.
The participants in the meeting adopted decisions on the Organization’s work and a press release on the participants’ commitment to implement the CEI strategic goals: European integration and cooperation for sustainable development of the CEI countries, especially in order to combat the post-COVID consequences.
