Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a meeting with the mission for the observational of the snap parliamentary elections on behalf of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR/OSCE), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The mission’s head, Tamas Meszerics, referred to the goal and role of the mission at the present snap parliamentary polls. The official said that, for the time being, the electoral process was held within the limits of the legal framework, with the observance of the democratic principles and without major infringements. Presently, the observers work on a preliminary report, due to be issued before the elections day.

The acting PM appreciated the importance of the mission and of the international observers in ensuring a fair, correct and transparent electoral process. Aureliu Ciocoi said that the authorities made all needed efforts for each citizen to be able to exercise his/her right to vote in conditions of maximal safety. At the same time, Ciocoi urged the Mission’s representatives to be incisive and supervise the observance of all European standards both on the right and left banks of Dniester.

‘’Despite the fact that the political instability triggers a deficiency of responsibility in some institutions, the electoral process must be held absolutely correctly. Nobody can attempt against the citizens’ constitutional right to vote,’’ the acting prime minister said.

Immediately after 11 July, the ODIHR/OSCE Mission, detached to Moldova, will issue a Declaration on the Preliminary Findings and Conclusions. The final report of the entire electoral process’ monitoring will be published in two months after the elections and will comprise including concrete recommendations for improving the electoral process. Twenty eight long-term observers and 300 short-term ones are involved in the mission for observing the elections in Moldova, on behalf of the ODIHR/OSCE election observation mission.
