Deputy premiers of Moldova, Ukraine discuss components of country's reintegration policies

Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - The fourth online meeting from 2021 on exchange of experience between the Reintegration Policies Bureau and the Ministry of  Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, at the level of decision-makers, took place today. The deputy prime ministers in charge of these sectors, Olga Cebotari and Oleksii Reznikov, accompanied by the head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau, Alin Gvidiani and, respectively, deputy minister Ihor Yaremenko, were involved in the discussion.       

According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, the direct communication between the competent deputy prime ministers represented a continuation of the dialogue started in 2018, through the trilateral platform of cooperation from Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia, as well as through maintaining permanent contacts on the institutional bilateral.  

The event served as a good occasion for a better knowledge of the officials, making exchange of information and opinions on files managed, experiences and good practices marked, lessons learned, useful events and prospects for the advancement in the settlement of concrete problems.   

In the context of the agenda set, the acting deputy prime minister, Olga Cebotari, informed about the government’s approaches and achievements in the promotion of Moldova’s reintegration policies, Moldovan authorities’ positive actions to back the residents from both banks of Dniester and for solving the urgent problems they are facing, Chisinau’s vision on the comprehensive and sustainable settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, activities and developments within the current formats of negotiations, progress made and challenges faced in these processes, future findings and priorities.    

Cebotari highlighted that, for Chisinau, the foremost issues in 2021 remained the removal of all obstacles to the free movement to/from the settlements of the Transnistrian region, protection of the human rights and fundamental freedoms in the region, carrying out of efficient measures for residents’ immunization and protection of public health, ensuring an active dynamic in all formats of talks.    

Also, Olga Cebotari pointed out the importance and contribution of projects for promoting confidence building measures, in order to support the advancement of the Transnistrian settlement process. She also set forth the national and international assistance programmes to this end and cleared up the role and impact of the budgetary allocations distributed during 2011-2021 through the programme of Moldova’s reintegration activities on the social and economic development of the settlements in the perimeter of the Security Zone.  

The Moldovan deputy PM stressed the existence of openness in developing the cooperation on diverse aspects of mutual interest, continuing the organization of new events with the participation of governmental officials and teams of reintegration institutions, exchanging good practices, which can be useful and are of mutual interest.
