Plans on admission to universities with budgetary financing published in Moldova's Official Journal

Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today published the Plans (state order) on admission to the higher education with financing from the state budget for the 2021-2022 academic year. Under the decision, the state order was approved within the limit of the budgetary allocations approved to this end for 8,670 budgetary places in all.  

According to the decision, in the higher education, the cycle I – degree, the admission plan envisages the admission of 5,040 people for 26 general education fields and supports, as a priority, the following sectors: Education Sciences (1,254 – 25 per cent of the budgetary places), Engineering, Technology and Architecture (1,107 places – 24 per cent); Information and Communications Technology (633 – 14 per cent), Medicine (455 – 9.5 per cent); agricultural sciences and veterinary medicine (161 – 3.4 per cent).    

As many as 3,081 people are planned to be admitted to master higher education (cycle II), by 15 places less against the last academic year; 443 people are scheduled to be admitted to clinical residency.   

Given the measures undertaken by the authorities to prevent and combat the COVID-19 virus epidemic in Moldova, on the one hand, and the acute lack of medical staff involved in the control and treatment of the infection, on the other hand, the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) proposed to increase by 15 budgetary places allocated to medical specialties at the integrated higher education, within the limit of the financial means planned of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry. At the same time, the state order includes 262 budgetary places with special purpose for the graduates of the schools from Moldova’s eastern districts.  

To back the social dimension in the higher education, facilities are seen for certain disadvantaged candidates this year as well – 15 per cent (756) out of all budgetary places are allocated for these people, priority representing young people who remained without parental care and the ones with disability degree.

Also, to fulfill Moldova’s obligations within bilateral contracts concluded with various countries, 106 budgetary places are planned for the admission of foreign citizens to education, of whom 76 people – to degree higher education (cycle I) and 30 people to the master higher education (cycle II).
