Torrential rains cause damages in settlements from seven districts of Moldova

Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - The torrential rains have caused damages in more settlements of the districts of Soroca, Criuleni, Ungheni, Floresti, Basarabeasca, Orhei and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.   

According to data by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the rains with hail destroyed 185 hectares of rape, 260 hectares of maize and 96 hectares of wheat in the Dubna settlement, Soroca district.

In the Stoicani village, Soroca district, the rains and strong wind pulled out 100 slates from the roof of an agricultural warehouse and in Slobozia-Cremene village, the same district, the rains hit 102 hectares of orchards.  

Damages were also registered in the Miclesti settlement, Criuleni district, where a local road was destroyed on a distance of 2.5 km. In Comrat, the precipitation caused damages to 184 hectares of orchards, 300 ha of maize and 250 ha of wheat. As many as 150 hectares of sunflower and 100 ha of maize were stuck in mud because of the heavy rains in the Ciocalteni village, Orhei district.   

Commissions for emergency situations work in the settlements hit, in order assess the damages.  

According to data by the State Hydrometeorological Service, the risk of local floods increases all over Moldova for the next days.
