Chisinau, 2 August /MOLDPRES/- The National Youth Orchestra of Moldova organized a concert on Saturday at the Bender Fortress, with music from the films that won the Oscars. The event was organized as part of the EU's Confidence Building Measures Program, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
This is the orchestra's third concert at the Bender Fortress. The artists performed music from 20 Oscar-winning films in a city where, thanks to the support of the European Union, restoration work will begin soon.
"Bender Fortress is a place with a huge cultural and tourist potential. This event is more than a show - it is a real cultural bridge. I am convinced that people want to see more such initiatives. In our turn, we will be happy to support them. Thanks to the generous contribution of the EU for the conservation and restoration of the city, we will further capitalize on its potential to bring people together ", said Dima Al-Khatib, UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova.
Concert tickets were sold out a few days before the event. The concert is part of a series of events dedicated to the celebration of ten years since the founding of the National Youth Orchestra of Moldova.
"In 2017 I had the idea to organize a concert here, an idea that was considered by some people a little too bold. That is why we are grateful to the city administration and our partners, the Tiraspol Regional Development Agency, for their support. They believed in our idea and supported us. I am very satisfied that the organization of cultural events at the Bender fortress has become a tradition, not an exception ", mentioned Andriano Marian, the founder and conductor of the orchestra.
The EU's Confidence Building Measures program implemented by UNDP contributes to increasing trust between the inhabitants of both banks of the Dniester River by involving representatives of business, civil society and the media in joint projects.
