Latvia donated batch of 30,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Moldova

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- Moldova received yesterday a batch of 30,000 doses of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) vaccine. They have been provided free of charge by Latvia and are to be distributed proportionally in all vaccination centers in the country.

"Through this donation, Latvia reaffirms its solidarity with the Republic of Moldova. Immunization is the best chance to end the COVID-19 pandemic. These vaccines will protect almost 15,000 Moldovans to keep them safe, healthy and alive. It is time to be informed, involved and to take responsibility ", said representative of the Latvian Embassy in Moldova Kristīne Zinčenko.

According to specialists, the vaccine AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) is 100% safe and effective against serious forms and deaths. It is administered intramuscularly, with two doses, at an interval of 4 and 12 weeks.

Previously, the Republic of Moldova received a total batch of 513,600 doses of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) vaccine, of which 405,600 from Romania and 108,000 doses through the COVAX Platform. So far, 94% of them have been assimilated.

Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, 1,103,335 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in our country.
