Moldova to benefit from 236 million dollars on behalf of IMF

09:27 | 24.08.2021 Category: Official

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will benefit from 165.3 million Special Drawing Rights (SDR), which is equivalent to about 236 million euros, on behalf of the International Monetary Fund, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The decision was discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and IMF Resident Representative in Moldova Rodgers Chawani.

The allocation of SDR provides active assets to the member countries, without obligations of reimbursement of cancellation. The states must not fulfill any condition, in order to receive their share from the SDR allocation; respectively, each member country can use the earmarking of SDR according to the domestic needs.

The two officials discussed the projects of the new Moldovan governance, as well as the resumption of the dialogue for the memorandum of policies between IMF and Moldova. In the context, the PM invited the IMF mission to Chisinau in late next September.

According to Natalia Gavrilita, Moldova will use the resources allocated by the Fund in order to supply the budget revenues and provide substantial support to the economic sectors, with emphasis on small- and medium-sized enterprises.
