Wages of officials to become public

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/- The Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance today approved report on a draft law aimed at ensuring the transparency of the salaries of certain categories of public figures.

The amendments stipulate that the Ministry of Finance, by May 1 of each year, will publish on its website, the amount of basic salaries for the current year of persons with positions of public dignity, of the staff of the cabinet of persons with positions of public dignity, of senior management civil servants and the heads and deputies of the heads of public institutions subordinated to the Government. The total amount of remuneration will be published, including salaries, allowances, compensations.

The authors of the initiative, PAS deputies Dumitru Alaiba and Radu Marian, claim that the incomes of officials and dignitaries can be estimated from information already publicly available, but citizens find it difficult to access them due to the form in which it is published - declarations of assets and interests.
