Secretary General of Council of Europe to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu had a meeting with Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe on the sidelines of the high segment of the United Nations General Assembly. The diplomats appreciated the dynamic character of the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe, the MAEIE press service has reported.

"We mentioned, in particular, the implementation of the Action Plan for 2021-2024, the organization's constant support in the process of supporting democratic reforms and the implementation of Council of Europe standards on democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights in the Republic of Moldova," Popescu said.

At the same time, the official thanked Marija Pejčinović Burić for willingness of the Council of Europe and institutions to support Moldova in reforming the justice sector through the high level working group.

Also, the officials discussed the details of the secretary general's visit to Chisinau, which is expected to take place by the end of this year.
