Bălți, Ungheni courts to implement USAID project -Model courts

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- Balti and Ungheni courts will implement a $ 5.6 million USAID "Model Courts" project for two and a half years, which aims to turn the two courts into centers of excellence.

Present at the launch, the charge d'affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America, Laura Hruby, stated that this project is an example of the partnership between the USA and the Republic of Moldova. “The creation of the two judicial centers of excellence represents a support offered to the Moldovan people for the consolidation of the judicial system. The United States has provided and will continue to provide support for the consolidation of democracy in your country. The United States remains a reliable partner for the Republic of Moldova ", the American official mentioned.

In his turn, the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, stressed that "building a rule of law is a priority on the government's agenda, but this cannot be done without the support of external partners". "USAID has been fully involved in supporting the reform of the justice system in the Republic of Moldova, and the launch of this project contributes to increasing citizens' trust in justice. The Ministry of Justice is grateful to the United States and USAID for its work in the Republic of Moldova, "said Litvinenco.

The USAID “Model Courts” project aims to improve the performance of courts in Balti and Ungheni by providing quality judicial services and to improve the connection between courts, communities and litigants. The initiatives that will be implemented in this project will guide the assistance provided at national level for all courts in the Republic of Moldova.
