ASD likely to apply delay penalties to entrepreneur who builds bypass of Slobozia Mare village

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- The leadership of the State Road Administration / ASD / discussed today with representatives of entrepreneur Metag Inșaat Ticaret A.S. (Turkey) on the construction process of Slobozia Mare village bypass in Cahul district.

According to ASD, at present, on the M3 road sector, with a length of over 18 km, earthworks, ballast laying and bridge construction are being carried out.

The construction works were initiated at the end of May 2019 and so far they have been executed in proportion of only 31%, the planned progress being 69.5%.

ASD warned the contractor about the slow progress of the works and about the risk of delay penalties. The contractor was asked to make an effort to improve the situation.

The project envisages the construction of a road sector with two lanes and two roundabouts. Also, construction works will be carried out on embankments, bridges, sidewalks, stormwater drainage and drainage systems, installation of 960 road signs and construction of three bus stations.

The construction of the road that connects with Giurgiulesti customs, the border with Romania, has a value of over 18 million euros, granted from the loan offered to the Government of the Republic of Moldova by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The contractor undertook the full completion of the project in 2022.
