About 2,000 children, 140 pregnant women received healthcare in cross-border project

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/- About 2,000 children and 140 pregnant women received medical assistance and counseling in the cross-border project Access to health services for every child through home visits, carried out by the Public Association Child, Community, Family and the Star of Hope Romania Foundation.

The project took place on April 2020 -September 2021 in four districts of the Republic of Moldova and three counties in Romania. It aims to provide higher quality health services to families with children up to three years of age and pregnant women in the last trimester and to reduce potential social risks and preventable diseases.

During this period, 133 medical workers from over 60 rural and urban localities improved their skills in the field of early identification of developmental disorders, disabilities and other health problems, being guided by mentors within the project.

Parents / caregivers of children up to 3 years old, as well as pregnant women in the last trimester of pregnancy received information on child development, attachment, vaccination, communication with the child, measures to prevent cases of domestic violence, etc. through TV shows and brochures offered in the project.

"Through the actions of the project, we reached 1,940 young children and 140 pregnant women in the last trimester of pregnancy. I made home visits, informed through brochures and TV shows, by supporting nurses. At the same time, we collaborated with the authorities from all these 7 regions at all levels ", said Ala Nosatîi, program manager of public association.

Also, 74 medical specialists had the opportunity to participate in study visits to both countries, as well as to a summer school where they shared their experience and took on new things.

The cross-border project is implemented by CCF Moldova in partnership with the Star of Hope Romania Foundation and funded by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument.
