Electronic application with COVID certificate to be worked out in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ - An electronic application due to contain the COVID certificate and which will be able to be showed at request, according to the example of more European states, might be activated on the days to come. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita made statements to this effect at a news conference after the cabinet meeting today.   

The official noted that this draft had been elaborated since last August and was coordinated by the deputy prime minister for digitalization and the Electronic Governance Agency. ‘’People work on this application, which could be soon activated,’’ Gavrilita said.  

The PM noted that, in the context of the entering into force of more restrictions as of 1 October, ‘’the acts allowing the entrance into closed spaces will be either the vaccination certificates or the certificates proving the presence of antibodies or the lack of the disease,’’ and ‘’their verification will be within the competence of employers or organizers, which will be able to also apply sanctions.’’ Nevertheless, Natalia Gavrilita urged people not to leave the things to reach the sanctioning. ‘’Let us not wait for fines; the state cannot stay in each restaurant or to beat. We must balance the economic interests and the diminution of the disease’s consequences. We should be united and think about the public interest,’’ the prime minister said.     

At the same time, Natalia Gavrilita urged the residents to be vaccinated, which is, for the time being, the safest and the most efficient solution to combat the virus. Or in this respect, the government today launched a social package helping the employers and employees, stimulating also the people who will get vaccinated with two paid days off.  

Under a decision by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission (CNESP) from 22 September, more restrictions will enter into force starting from 1 October. Thus, the public and private entities from the Moldovan capital as of 1 October will organize the working regime with the introduction of the distance work or they will opt for a differentiated working schedule. According to the CNESP decision, the employers from the public and private system will adjust the schedule of the employees with pre-school and school ages to the schedule of work of the education institutions. Also, the vocational education institutions and the higher education institutions will work online in the settlements under the red code of COVID-19, among which Chisinau too.     

At the same time, the access of visitors to medical and sanitary institutions, as well as placement institutions will be banned. The public nourishment units will organize their work at maximal capacity outdoors and at a level of 50 per cent at the most indoors, and with obligation for all clients to present the COVID-19 certificate at the entrance into unit. The organization of private events (weddings, Christenings, festive dinners) will be allowed with the participation of 100 people at the most indoors or, respectively, 150 people outdoors, by providing, in the service space, of an area of at last 2 square metres for each person, with the obligation for them to present the COVID-19 certificate.
