Ungheni municipality rebuilt with European money

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/- Rebuilding Ungheni with European money - title of the largest infrastructure project, funded by the European Union and carried out by the EU4Moldova: Key Regions Program, which is in progress.

The EU investment in the projects is 1,168,546 euros, the Ungheni city hall - 116,854 euros and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - 90,000 euros.

According to the project, so far several works have been carried out on the construction site in the center of the municipality. It is about the rehabilitation of over a kilometer of the road on Națională Street, where the road edging works are being completed, the degraded asphalt layer is milled and the surface is prepared for the installation of the recycled material layer for the last 0.5 km.

Out of the eight planned car parks, one is being completed and four are being developed. They will provide parking space in the city center for 225 vehicles.

"The works are in full swing in Independence Square, which will become a modern attraction for the people of Ungheni and the city's guests. This is where the concreting works of the pedestrian fountain were completed, and currently the connections to the aqueduct, sewerage and electricity networks are being made ”, according to UNDP.

The EU4Moldova: Key Regions program (2019-2024) supports smart, ecological, inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development in the Cahul and Ungheni regions, in order to ensure a better quality of life for citizens. The program has a total budget of 23 million euros, is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
