Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/- Vaipan Brothers company from Căinari, which has been producing table grapes and fruits for 14 years, has reoriented activity towards modern and environmentally friendly technologies. These have allowed it to adapt to climate change and reduce the consumption of its means of production and natural resources.

According to Liubomir Vaipan, company's manager, the first technology that has proven its effectiveness in climate change is the Pergola support system for the production of table grapes.

"The Pergola system, installed with the support of the project of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) High-Value Agriculture in Moldova, in the dry years allowed to maintain soil moisture and protected grapes from sunburn, and this year, with many precipitations, the Pergola system has reduced the risk of spreading fungal diseases in the vineyard. Currently, the company has 14 hectares of grapes on the Pergola system, including the classic grape plantations have been adapted to the Pergola type support system. This year, the average harvest from the vineyard on the Pergola system was about 25 tons per hectare ", the quoted source said.

Supported by USAID APM, the company has installed a flow-pack grape packaging line, which allows the use of biodegradable film and pans. This method of packaging is increasingly demanded by commercial networks due to the conditions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the alignment with the requirements of buyers increases the competitiveness of Moldovan grapes on the shelves of European supermarkets.

Modern technologies, implementation of good agricultural practices and standards GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP allow the company to produce quality grapes and fruits that can be exported to any market. Currently, the household is oriented towards the export of grapes on the European Union market, especially in Spain, Poland, Romania, Croatia etc.
