Modernization of Moldova's defence system discussed in London

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita met National Security Adviser of the United Kingdom’s PM, Stephen Lovegrove, at a working visit to London today. The officials considered perspectives for the development of the security sector, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM appreciated the fruitful bilateral cooperation in the defence sector, especially the assistance provided by the government of the United Kingdom in the modernization of Moldova’s defence system and in strengthening the defence institutional capacity.
With the support of the UK, the Moldovan military staff benefited from more training courses for strengthening capacities: trainings at the Royal Military Academy, a four-week course for multinational peacekeeping operations, as well as participation in international military exercises, Cambrian Patrol, - the greatest event of the British Army.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita thanked the Government of UK for the return of the funds retained on the bank accounts of citizen Luca Filat – about 11.26 million lei – means used for financing over 560 personal assistants for elderly people. The two officials discussed the need to continue the cooperation, in order to recover the money illegally earned in Moldova and used in other countries.
