Moldovan parliament speaker has meeting with Turkish foreign affairs minister

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today met Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, on a visit to Chisinau. Attending the meeting were the head of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration, Doina Gherman, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkey to Moldova Gürol Sökmensüer and other representatives of the diplomatic mission, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

The officials tackled subjects on the bilateral relation and aspects of interest on the common agenda. In the context, Igor Grosu thanked for the constant assistance provided by Turkey to Moldova and appreciated the openness for strengthening the dialogue and spoke out for consolidating the strategic cooperation between the two countries.   

”We want a permanent dialogue with our counterparts and we opt for strengthening it both on the dimension of the parliamentary friendship groups and the specialty parliamentary commissions; this would allow creating a bigger framework of consultancy, as well as eventual transfers of experience as to actions of  common interest,’’ the speaker said.  

Another subject discussed was focused on finishing the procedures of ratification of the agreement on conversion and mutual recognition of driver’s licences. This would facilitate the export service and other activities in the commercial, economic and investment sectors.

In the context, the two officials highlighted the success concerning the free movement of Moldovans to Turkey based on the identity cards.  

In the end, the Turkish foreign affairs minister expressed openness to provide the needed support to Moldova in all sectors, including in order to encourage the Turkish companies to continue the sectoral investments in Moldova.
