Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with Romanian counterpart

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today had a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania Bogdan Aurescu.

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, the two ministers welcomed the signing of the roadmap on the priority sectors of cooperation; this document ensures the unconditional support of the process of democratic reforms and European integration of Moldova, and is meant to strengthen, through concrete actions and results, the two countries’ community of language, history and culture.

„Moldova and Romania will work together for speeding up the carrying out of the things agreed upon in the spirit of the bilateral strategic partnership for Moldova’s European integration, with the firm commitment taken by Romania being one of support for our country’s European integration. We also discussed the negotiation of a new agreement on non-refundable assistance for Moldova, which is to replace and take over the duties of the bilateral agreement signed in 2010,’’ Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu said.      

The new agreement will give the Moldovan citizens possibility to benefit from diverse development projects, including in such fields as infrastructure, health, education and culture.  

The diplomats also referred to the organization of the next joint meeting of the governments and the bilateral specialty commissions, which will boost even more the additional cooperation and consolidation of the bilateral dialogue.  

At the same time, the two diplomacies’ heads exchanged opinions on the regional situation, present events in Europe and internationally.
