ADR Center, German company signed 1.5 million-euro consultancy agreement

Chisinau, 24 November / MOLDPRES /- Within the project Improvement of water infrastructure in Central Moldova, implemented by the Regional Development Agency (ADR) Center and financed by the German Federal Government through the German State Bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), a consultancy contract was signed in worth 1.5 million euros.

It comes to cover the need to strengthen the capacities of future regional operators in the context of legislative changes in this regard in our country, but also of the regionalization of water operators.

The document sets out the two sides' commitments to supporting water companies to become more efficient and includes multi-faceted consulting services. „Among them would be the revision of the institutional analysis of the feasibility study and the realization of an assessment of the capacity needs / needs of water and sewerage insurance (ACC) Straseni and ACC Calarasi (operators of secondary transport networks); reviewing and proposing capacity development recommendations for representatives of RDA Center and regional water enterprises, including job descriptions, staff qualifications, annual staff evaluations, on-the-job and off-site development and training; improving the project management capacities of the municipalities of Straseni and Calarasi, etc. ”, explained ADR Center.

According to the quoted source, the funds for the accompanying measures are 4.5 million euros, and their implementation is planned in three stages. The first phase will cover the period 2020-2023 in parallel with the first two construction phases provided in the project. The other phases provide for 2023-2025 and 2025-2027.

The project is funded by the German Federal Government through KfW, while ADR Center is its implementing institution. The cost of the project is about 27.65 million euros, of which 25 million euros is the grant granted by the German Government, and 2.65 million euros is the contribution guaranteed by the National Regional Development Fund.

The project is planned for a period of 4 years, during which time the inhabitants of the cities of Straseni and Calarasi, and, subsequently, of the priority villages from the two districts involved will be connected to the highway that will be built.
