Chisinau, 3 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- The Official Journal today published amendments to the government decision on approval of the National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings for 2018-2023 and the action plan on its implementation.

Under the document, the first stage of implementation of the National Strategy was completed in 2020, and the action plan for 2021-2022 was set up to continue the achievements. It includes steps that will contribute to the implementation of the recommendations submitted by the international evaluation mechanisms in the field. The activities set out in the action plan derive from the general structure based on the four pillars of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings: Prevention, Protection, Punishment and Partnership.

The project is structured in five sections and includes general support measures, such as improving the regulatory framework, developing the professional skills of specialists, strengthening the mechanisms for planning and managing financial resources from the state budget for the implementation of actions in the field. Other sections propose measures to prevent trafficking in human beings, better protect victims, and strengthen cooperation between competent authorities, implementing partners in countries of destination, transit and origin in order to effectively prevent and combat trafficking.

Monitoring the implementation of the action plan will be carried out semi-annually and annually by the State Chancellery, the Permanent Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings based on information submitted by the responsible authorities, and the National Annual Report will be submitted to the government before 31 March.
