Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - The National Social Insurances House of (CNAS) Moldova and the State Social Insurances Agency of Latvia will start negotiations on the procedures of requesting, transfer and payment of pensions, benefits and compensations. A decision to this effect was approved at a cabinet meeting today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The document sees the updating of the composition of the official delegation on behalf of Moldova, in charge of the negotiating the draft Administrative Arrangement between the two countries. The delegation will be made up of experts of national central public institutions and authorities and CNAS will be the institution competent with the treaty’s conclusion and implementation.

The draft of the arrangement was elaborated based on the agreement between Moldova and Latvia in the social security sector. The document’s goal is to ensure a framework of social security guarantees for the migrant workers from Moldova, who carry out or carried out labour activity or live on the territory of one of the Sides. This establishes the way of cooperation of the competent institutions from the two countries as to the payment of pensions, benefits and compensations, as well as to the exchange of statistics data and information.

It is worth mentioning that the draft approved by the government today sees the implementation of the commitments assumed by Moldova through the joining the revised European Social Charter, partially ratified by Moldova in 2001 and the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
