Two Turks sentenced to 11, 6 years in prison on heroin smuggling from Iran

Chisinau, Dec. 29 / MOLDPRES /- Two Turkish nationals have been sentenced to 11 and 6 years in prison respectively in the case of smuggling 200 kg of heroin from Iran.
According to the PCCOCS, the court also ordered the destruction of the 200 kg of heroin introduced in the Republic of Moldova by smuggling, as well as the payment by the defendants of the court costs, in the amount of over 40 thousand lei. In addition, the magistrates ordered the confiscation in the state account of about 200,000 lei from the defendants.
At the same time, the PCCOCS announced that the prosecutors will challenge the sentence at the Chisinau Court of Appeal, because they consider it too lenient, and will request the expulsion of the two defendants, after the execution of the sentence.
