Moldovan PM has working meeting with Soroca public administration representatives

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - Solutions to the most pressing problems faced by the people from the settlements of the northern Soroca district have been discussed at a working meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and representatives of the public administration from the region, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

At the meeting, the PM referred to the recent measures undertaken by the cabinet, in order to support the regional development of Moldova. In this respect, the government approved the Single Programme Document (DUP), which contains 46 projects on regional development, which are to be implemented in the country’s regions and settlements during 2022-2024, with an estimated cost of 1.5 billion lei. The money is meant to enhance people’s access to the infrastructure of water and sewerage systems supply, public spaces’ modernization, etc. At the same time, Natalia Gavrilita informed that the backing of settlements would be a priority also for the non-refundable assistance provided by Romania. An agreement to this effect is to be signed at a joint meeting of the Romanian and Moldovan governments, due in Chisinau, on 11 February 2022.    

„The financing of projects on regional and local development will be made transparently and fairly and not based on political criteria. We want these financial means to be used, so as to bring real benefits to people and settlements,’’ the PM said.  

The participants in the meeting also analyzed more projects underway, among which the project, Security of water and sanitation supply in Moldova, signed with the World Bank, worth 50 million dollars; 11 million dollars of this money is meant for the construction of the water-purifying station from Soroca. Following the procedure of the agreement’s ratification, works on construction of the object are to be carried out, which is to be placed between the Soroca city and the Trifauti village, on an area of about 2.14 hectares. The discussions also regarded a project which sees the building of a bridge across the Dniester river nearby the Cosauti and Iorjnita settlements, which will have a length of about 641 metres, 2 traffic lanes, 2 safety lanes, 2 tracks for cyclists, 2 sidewalks for pedestrians and a trestle bridge with a length of 667 metres on the Ukrainian side. The road of access to the bridge with a length of about 7 km will be built with Moldova’s financial means.     . 

Another project due to be implemented in the settlement regards the waste management sector. In this respect, a feasibility study was worked out, along with the Environment Ministry and foreign partners.
