Moldovan musicologist, composer celebrates 70th birthday

Chisinau, January 26 / MOLDPRES /- Musicologist and composer Ion Păcuraru, Master of Arts, former Minister of Culture is celebrating his 70th birthday today.

He was a member of the jury at National Competition of Young Performers Barbu Lăutarul (Chisinau), International Interpretation Competition E. Coca (Chisinau), Golden Chrysanthemum Romance Interpretation Contest (Targoviste, Romania).

Founding member and member of the organizing committee of the International Festival New Music Days in Chisinau. Member (since 1985) and Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova (1992-1994). Member (1992), then member of the Board of the Union of Musicologists of Moldova (since 1994), member of the Artistic Council of the National Philharmonic, Member of the Board of the French Alliance of Moldova (1994-1998).

Laureate of the National Competition for Original Compositions of Popular Music (1983, 1985, 1987); Master of Arts (1998).
