Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - The government will compensate the first 500 cubic metres of gas for economic agents subscribed to the Moldovagaz stock company. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today made statements to this effect at a news conference held jointly with Economics Minister Sergiu Gaibu.

„Just as I promised, we will compensate the first 500 cubic metres of natural gas for the economic agents subscribed to Moldovagaz, as a measure of help, in the context of the increase in the natural gas tariff. The support will be retroactive starting from 1 January,’’ the PM noted.

According to the prime minister, it is about a programme which will have the same mechanism as at the household consumers. ‘’We will work for a targeted programme, in order to cut the increase in tariffs for important food products,’’ Gavrilita said.

„There are 10,500 beneficiaries in all; more than a half of them will be fully compensated. We will provide an additional supplement for the crucial beneficiaries,’’ Economics Minister Sergiu Gaibu said.

The decision is to be approved at a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), due on 1 February.

Also, Natalia Gavrilita informed about more irregularities detected at the Consumer Protection and Markets Supervision Agency and the measures of prevention and combating them, undertaken by the authorities.

„Following more abuses and complaints against the Consumer Protection and Markets Supervision Agency, decision-makers instructed the reorganization of this institution. Till late next February, the government is to approve the draft,’’ Sergiu Gaibu said.
