Over 100 ha of vegetation from Lower Prut Reserve burned down

Chisinau, Feb. 4 / MOLDPRES /- Over 100 hectares of vegetation in Lower Prut Reserve burned yesterday. Seven trucks intervened on the spot and fought the flames for more than eight hours.

According to IGSU, on the evening of February 3, employees from the south of the institution were alerted to intervene urgently to put out a vegetation fire on a large area near the town of Slobozia Mare, Cahul district.

According to the first information, the call to the 112 Service was received at 19:06. Seven special vehicles were sent to the scene. Arriving at the destination, firefighters determined that an area of about 100 hectares of reeds is engulfed in flames. Rescuers managed to put out the blaze at 3:26 a.m., after more than eight hours of fighting the open flames.

Thanks to the intervention of the fire brigade jointly with the employees of the Border Police from the south of the country, it was possible to save the area of the bird incubator from Lower Prut Reserve.

The circumstances of the case are yet to be determined.

IGSU data show that in the last 24 hours rescuers and firefighters intervened in 63 risk situations.
