Moldovan publicist passes away

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - Publicist, holder of the Civic Merit medal, former deputy editor-in-chief of Moldova magazine Mitrofan Vatavu died at the age of 93 years on the night of 6 to 7 February.
Mitrofan Vatavu was born in the Borosenii Noi village, north-western Rascani district, on 14 November 1928. He graduated from the Ion Creanga State Pedagogical Institute from Chisinau in 1965. Vatavu worked as deputy editor-in-chief at the Cultura magazine, literary employee and deputy editor-in-chief at the Moldova magazine till 2003. He published books about the protection of the nature, about the culture man, political activist, former culture minister, former deputy president of the Council of Ministers of the Moldovan Soviet Republic (RSSM) Anatol Coropceanu, illustrious physicians Nicolae Anestiadi and Vitalie Betisor, etc. Vatavu made the scenarios for more documentary films. In 1996, he was awarded the Civic Merit medal.
Mitrofan Vatavu will be buried at the Central Orthodox Cemetery on the Armeneasca Street from Chisinau on 9 February.
