Enhancement of Moldovan agro-food products' presence on market of Azerbaijan discussed in Baku

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, as co-head of the inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation on behalf of Moldova, has met Agriculture Minister of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov, who acts as co-head of the Azeri side of this commission.      

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, along with representatives of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry and Economics Ministry, members of the national delegation, the sides discussed a string of priority subjects of the Moldovan-Azeri relations, including the measures needed, which can boost the bilateral interactions on the dimensions of mutual interest, especially in such sectors as the commercial and economic, agriculture and energy.  

„We will foster, at the level of competent institutions, the cooperation as to the efficient use of fertilizers in agriculture, as well as the taking over of the Azeri experience in the field of special anti-hail services,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.  

At the meeting, the officials agreed on the holding, in the near future, of the next ordinary meeting in Baku of the inter-governmental bilateral commission, with the organization of a Moldovan-Azeri forum of business people on its sidelines.

„Not in the least, I confirmed along with Mr. Inam Karimov the interest in the implementation of joint investment projects, with the participation of economic agents from the two states, including the turning to good account of Free Economic Zones from Moldova; we also considered ways of enhancing the presence of Moldovan agro-food products on the market from Azerbaijan,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu added.
