Moldovan infrastructure minister says Moldovagaz company cannot participate in audit of its own debts

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - The discontents of the Russian giant Gazprom with the independent audit of the debts of the Moldovagaz stock company might have at the basis the fact that not the concerned enterprise organizes this process, which is not possible, given that Moldovagaz cannot audit its own debts. Deputy PM, Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu made statements to this effect at a today’s news conference held jointly with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, after the cabinet meeting.     

The official noted that the point on the audit had been established at the Moldovan-Russian negotiations from the last autumn, which clearly show that the audit will be organized by Moldova’s government.  

Andrei Spinu reiterated that he would continue the discussions with the Gazprom giant, in order to overcome any disagreements as to the independent audit of Moldova’s debts to the Russian giant.   

In the same context, both the deputy PM and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that the relation with Gazprom cannot influence the functionality of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline. Or, the certificate of investments is to be handed at the joint meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian governments on 11 February, in order to complete the project of this gas pipeline, which has been functional since October 2021.   

„In the context of the situation in the energy sector, we are seeking and we are open for all optimal solutions to this end, either medium- or long-term,’’ the prime minister added.
