Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) today held an ordinary meeting in Bender. At the event, the JCC members approved the report by the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone on 2-8 February, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

Moldova’s delegation proposed the discussion and taking of attitude on a call distributed at the end of the previous meeting by the OSCE Mission in Moldova.

The document regards the issue of trainings by military contingents and to reduce the tension and enhance the transparency of these activities, the OSCE Mission asked the sides to consider possibility of informing in advance its representatives about the trainings planned.

Moldova’s delegation supported this initiative of the OSCE Mission in Moldova, which carries out the monitoring of the situation in the Security Zone, in line with the principles of cooperation with the Joint Control Commission, signed on 10 December 2004.

The Transnistrian region’s representatives set forth their negative position, noting that they did not see the need of involvement in these processes in the Security Zone.

The discussions on the subject will continue during the next week at working meetings between the JCC co-heads, representatives of the OSCE Mission and Ukraine.

As for the instruction from 24 September 2020 of the Joint Military Command on the clearing up of each case of non-fulfillment of the Commission’s decisions starting from 12 March 2020, the higher military heads informed that the they would report about the solution identified at the next meeting.

Moldova’s delegation expressed concern that the regional situation influenced also the state of things in the Joint Military Command. Elements of distrust between the commanders of the sides’ military contingents were recorded, which triggers lack of consensus on aspects of activity.
